Texas Children’s Hospital The Woodlands, the first hospital devoted to children’s care for communities north of Houston, opened its doors in April 2017. The outpatient building, which opened in October 2016, includes 72 exam rooms and clinics for major pediatric specialties including cancer, cardiology, allergy/immunology/rheumatology and diabetes/endocrinology. Summary:

We are searching for a Chaplain - someone who works well in a fast-paced hospital setting. In this position, you’ll provide pastoral care, spiritual counseling and guidance to the patients, families and staff.

Responsibilities :

  • Provides leadership in performing and creating necessary ministries as required
  • Develops and implements ministry objectives, policies and procedures consistent with Hospital philosophy
  • Provides spiritual assessment and pastoral care to patients, families and staff
  • Evaluates patient/family needs for spiritual guidance and counseling
  • Initiates or recommends programs to meet those needs
  • Interacts with the patient care team on designated units and wherever called to minister
  • Communicates necessary patient information to other team members through effective use of chart notations
  • Respects patient confidentiality
  • Maintains availability for consultation to Hospital staff and other individuals on matters pertaining to Hospital ministry
  • Orients, trains and helps provide on-going education and support for The Spiritual Care Volunteers, in collaboration with Volunteer Services designee
  • Collaborates with Volunteer Services Asst. Director in planning and teaching Spiritual Care Volunteer classes

 



Qualifications:

  • Master of Divinity degree or canonically acceptable equivalent
  • Board certified professional chaplain or eligible for board certification
  • Supportive of the Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) Program of SLEH
