We are searching for a Senior Application Developer who is skilled in reporting - someone who works well in a fast-paced managed care setting. You will perform custom application and report development, data and application integration for the health plan's information systems, and to devise and design technical requirements and estimate effort. You will be responsible for documentation of well-defined methods, procedures, programs and configurations in the delivery of application services. You will also be responsible for making recommendations regarding policies associated with the job’s purpose and essential responsibilities.


You must be well versed in creating code that takes data and turns them into detailed reports.  Candidates will need to have a background with SQL, MicroSoft Reporting or SSRS, and MicroSoft's Intergration services or SSIS. Ideally candidates will also have exposure to Power BI.  This role will have to translate regulatory requirements from the State of Texas and turn them into effective reports that the leadership of the Texas Children's Health Plan can use to analyze business operations.  A business analyst background might not hurt either.

Responsibilities :

  • Implements design principles to be used in each development assignment - create detailed reports
  • Ensure adherence to best practices and standards according to State regulations
  • Works with Application Architects in the design and review of technical solutions for projects
  • Defines, documents and designs technical requirements for custom applications, integrations, and processes
  • Prepares design specifications, implements any required data mapping, including documenting and revising user test plans as they relate to reports
  • Estimates time to complete team level assignments breaking down user stories/requirements into actionable tasks
  • Accurately communicates status on individual assignments and prioritize to complete on schedule
  • Contributes details to the overall plan within your scope of experience and skills
  • Develops, documents, and tests application and process following best practices and standards
  • Develops deployment and roll back scripts for releasing changes into production
  • Creates or updates application and process documentation in compliance with standards Analyzes, reviews, and alters application and data integrations to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements


  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Eight (8) years of experience as a software developer or software engineer including two (2) years of database report design and programming and three (3) plus years of  experience with Microsoft reporting and intergration tool sets
  • Experience with Microsoft SSRS and SSIS - Reporting and Data Integration services
  • Object Relational Mapping (Entity Framework preferred)
  • SQL Server Database Development(T-SQL)
  • Nice to have - Power BI
  • Experience with Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF), Win Forms, and design patterns
  • Prefer experience in business or data analytics
  • Must know coding to generate reports
