We are searching for an Appointment Coordinator (Perioperative) - someone who works well in a fast-paced academic medical setting. In this position, you’ll be responsible for scheduling patients for surgical procedures for multiple specialties and diagnostic testing in many settings utilizing a computerized scheduling system and multiple software applications. You’ll represent Perioperative services in contacts with others both within and outside the department by obtaining and giving information, scheduling, interpreting and interceding as directed.

Demonstrates competence in using the OR computer scheduling soft ware Demonstrates competence in using WORD and OACIS software programs Demonstrates competence in the current hospital ADT system Demonstrates competence using Excel in a Windows application environment Responsible for scheduling patients in multiple surgical specialties and sites Accurately and completely records information from customers Establishes positive interpersonal relationships with key individuals in physician’s offices and uses critical thinking skill to find posting options when none seem apparent Reconciles preliminary and final schedules to assure accuracy Communicates with responsible departments Anesthesia, Admitting, GI, Procedure Suite and Surgery sites to finalize the schedule Responsible for finalizing the schedule Communicates with Nurse Manager and Clinical Coordinators to assure that the schedule is accurate and appropriate resources are available to do the cases Maintains a positive relationship with the key managers
High school diploma or equivalent A minimum of 2 years experience with appointment scheduling and coordination or other related healthcare experience is required Ability to demonstrate excellent customer service skills; demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills Utilize interpersonal skills; possess critical thinking skills; maintain confidentiality Ability to use a networked personal computer that facilitates access to the Hospital’s main frame system Demonstrate proficiency in office software, and demonstrate self-initiated work behaviors
