We are searching for a Medical Illustrator – someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you’ll assist the Department of Surgery in meeting the illustrative needs associated publications, patient care, research, education and professional presentations, video, and other printed and digital materials.

Responsibilities :


  • Creates illustrations, graphics, and three dimensional models with or without animation to demonstrate medical or biological subjects, using variety of artistic techniques in fields such as anatomy, physiology, histology, pathology, or in surgical procedures, for use in publications, exhibits, consultations, research, and educational activities
  • Archive all media created within the existing framework to contribute to the illustration library
  • Advises faculty and staff on copyright use of illustrations and images for publication
  • Manages and keeps records of permission forms of illustration and image use for the Department of Surgery
  • Evaluates the technical (software, equipment, etc.) needs of the department
  • Assists with video, photography or other image capturing / storage needs associated with the Department
  • Contributes to Multimedia Services Events as needed




  • A Master’s degree in medical illustration
  • 3 years of medical illustration experience
  • Be a Board-Certified Medical Illustrator (CMI) or be able to apply for certification within 2 years of employment
  • Expert user of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Basic knowledge of 3D and Animation Software
