The Registered Dietitian will be responsible for providing evidence based nutritional care services to pediatric and adolescent patients in an interdisciplinary outpatient setting, particularly related to Nutrition Support, intestinal rehabilitation, parenteral nutrition, inflammatory bowel disease, obesity, and general GI.  Working in an academic & clinical setting, the Clinical Dietitian will serve as the nutrition and food related resource for the interdisciplinary health care team (physicians, psychologists, physical therapists and social workers), parents and families. S/he will deliver nutrition education lectures, presentations and collaborate in developing nutrition related policies and procedures related to the department. S/he will maintain the competence and skills required for professional practice.

Responsibilities :

  • Collaborates with other professionals to integrate and communicate nutrition principles that enhance patient outcomes.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary rounds and care management meeting/huddles and interacts with the care team to coordinate the implementation of the nutrition care plan
  • Coordinates/transitions care across the continuum
  • Participates in, interprets and uses research to enhance clinical practice
  • Mentors peers and coworkers in the application of evidence based nutrition practice
  • Maintains credentials and participates in ongoing continuing education
  • Documents nutrition care effectively within the medical record
  • Utilizes SBAR techniques to facilitate handoff to different level of care or care provider
  • Utilizes the nutrition care process appropriately to communicate nutrition plan goals and expected outcomes to care team
  • Contributes to Departmental development and visibility by actively participating in the review and revision of nutrition related resources and policies



  • Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics or related field
  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist  (RDN) issued by the Commission on Dietetic Registration
  • Licensed Dietitian (LD) issued by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
  • Knowledge of medical nutrition therapy, parenteral nutrition, nutrition support and pediatrics.




Preferred experience:

  • Master’s degree, 3 years of clinical nutrition experience with nutrition support, pediatrics, and home parenteral nutrition management.
  • Certified Specialist in Nutrition Support  (CSNC) – or willing to pursue
  • Experience with pediatrics preferred
