About Texas Children's Hospital

Texas Children’s Specialty Care Centers provide specialized diagnostic care to treat a variety of pediatric diseases and conditions. Specialty Care Centers are staffed by expert Texas Children’s physicians, surgeons, therapists and clinical staff who work closely with a child’s primary-care physician to diagnose health conditions and develop patient-specific treatment plans. The first Texas Children’s Specialty Care location in Austin is expected to open in October 2018 in the north-central area of the city with nearly a dozen medical and surgical services under one roof, including the following sub-specialties and offerings: allergy and immunology; cardiology; dermatology; gastroenterology; neurology; developmental pediatrics; endocrine; pulmonary; ophthalmology; plastics; urology; and X-ray and ultrasound readings by Texas Children’s pediatric radiologists.  

Summary:

We are searching for an Ambulatory Service Representative II – someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you’ll provide excellent customer service as the first contact for patients, providers, and staff accessing ambulatory clinics. You will expedite the outpatient check-in and check-out processes by reviewing appointment status, using an electronic appointment system to view information regarding appointment, insurance, and history. Additionally, you will collect pre-visit payments and communicate with the clinic liaison regarding factors impacting the patient visit and general clinic-patient flow. You will also secure the financial integrity of the patient’s account by verifying benefits and obtaining referrals, authorizations, and pre-certifications.

Responsibilities :

  • Works in admission/check-in/welcome desk, PARs, registration, and past pending
  • Insurance authorization/collecting cash and deposits
  • Coordinates schedules
  • Oversees charge entry, billing, and reconciliation
  • Provides customer service and communication
  • Performs other job-related functions
  • Acts as Flowmaster and provides room management

 

 



Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Two (2) years of experience in customer service
  • Health care and/or pediatric experience preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance terminology, and customer service concepts required
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written
  • Good interpersonal skills, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong time management skills
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to operate a personal computer and software efficiently
  • Ability to operate general clinic equipment
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English preferred
