We are searching for a Referral Clerk—someone who works well in a fast-paced primary care setting. In this position you’ll coordinate the referral process for Texas Children’s Pediatrics Associates. We need someone who can provide excellent customer service and has knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities :

  • Verifies patient eligibility
  • Documents eligibility in patient medical record Assesses patient’s eligibility for referral by verifying coverage with payor prior to initiating referral
  • Identifies and documents network providers for appropriate referral
  • Initiates and processes referral
  • Completes paperwork and documentation for authorized referral
  • Transmits information to referred agency
  • Assists patients, per practice protocol, in setting appointments for referred services
  • Assists patients, per practice protocol who have emergencies or have self-referred without prior authorization
  • Documents referral process


  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Knowledge of general office tasks, confidentiality, medical terminology, CPT coding and managed care referral process
  • Knowledge of related OSHA and JCAHO guidelines and requirements
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service, to act in a professional manner, to type, to file, to use a multi-line telephone, computer, fax, copier and adding machine
