We are searching for a Physician Assistant to work in Orthopedic Surgery — someone who works well in a fast-paced setting.

This position is Monday-Friday 8a-5p and includes outpatient and operating room responsibilities. The Physician Assistant will work with our orthopedic tumor patients. 


This role will provide developmentally-appropriate and age-appropriate health maintenance for the population-focused specialty. This position works under specific clinical privileges and works collaboratively with other members of the healthcare team to deliver comprehensive patient care. This role will practice under established guidelines and clinical protocols, and assume independent and interdependent responsibilities in the assessment, diagnosis, and initiation of treatment and procedures. Job duties will be performed in a manner that is appropriate for the ages of patients served, while being responsible for education, research, consultation and evaluation of clinical practice at various levels.

Responsibilities :

  • Daily utilization of advanced practice knowledge and skills to systematically collect and evaluate health assessment data, and manage patient caseloads
  • Administers or provides medications as delegated by an authorizing physician
  • Orders diagnostic tests consistent with differential diagnoses derived from gathered data as evidenced by types of tests ordered
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills and works to eliminate communication barriers
  • Provides patient care follow-up
  • Consistently serves as an educational resource for the patient and family, community, and other healthcare professionals
  • Consistently applies new knowledge relevant to the population-specific clinical practice
  • Demonstrates current professional, managerial, and/or technical knowledge and skills
  • Participates in departmental Quality Improvement program annually


  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher
  • Current Texas Physician Assistant (PA) license with the Texas Medical Board
  • Ability to operate all types of equipment and perform routine and special procedures used in the daily care of the specialty-specific population, the ability to work effectively with others, and the ability to demonstrate leadership qualities
  • Broad knowledge of medical terminology and pathology, a broad knowledge of adult learning principles and how to apply these principles to teaching
