Summary:

We are looking for the right Physician Assistant for to join our Pediatric Surgery specialty, someone who works well in a fast-paced hospital setting.

This position includes operating room first-assist for Urology. You will provide medical services within the education, training and experience of the physician assistant, through delegation of the supervising physician in the department of Pediatric Surgery

Responsibilities :

  • Provide quality patient care within the education, training and experience of the physician assistant, through delegation of the supervising physician within in inpatient, outpatient and operating room settings
  • Work independently to assess, diagnose, treat, and educate patients, consulting with physician as needed
  • Provide appropriate clinical documentation using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system for all patient encounters.
  • Perform comprehensive and problem-focused histories and physical examinations for all patients
  • Perform minor surgical procedures independently
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, PAs, NPs, nurses and our resident team
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families and clinical team
  • Provide coverage for operating rooms for Orthopedic Surgery, Plastic Surgery, General Surgery and Urology


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Current license from Texas Medical Board to practice in the State of Texas
  • Current certification by National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants

 

 

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Master’s degree
  • Current BLS and PALS certification
  • Fundamental knowledge of pediatric assessment and treatment
  • Knowledge of related OSHA, CLIA and JCAHO guidelines and requirements
  • 2 years of Operating Room experience
