We are on the hunt for an Endoscopy Technician II to perform and coordinate a variety of routine and specialized task assignments as indicated by medical orders, nursing standards, and assessments to assist licensed nurse and physicians in the WOO Operating Room.

In the position, you'll also act as a resource for other departments regarding technical skills specific to the WOO Operating Room.

Responsibilities :

  • Performs basic nursing care in accordance with the nursing standards of practice/care by observing patient condition, collaborating with the RN, and documenting appropriately
  • Assists nursing staff and physicians with routine and complex procedures including, but not limited to: ERCPs, GI bleeds, Esophageal and pyloric dilatations

  • Interacts and communicates effectively with patients, families, staff, and physicians as observed by supervisor, patient surveys, feedback from patients, families, staff, and physicians

  • Responds appropriately during emergency situations by notifying the appropriate personnel and obtaining needed supplies and equipment

  • Utilizes CORI, Pentax, and Olympus Medtronic computer systems

  • Enters and retrieves patient information from the different computer systems in the unit

  • Enters orders and retrieves information from the Hospital based IS programs

  • Assists with clinical duties as assigned, acts as a receptionist, inputs computer data within an appropriate time frame, and uses communication skills appropriately

  • Prepares patient care areas for procedures by obtaining and setting up the appropriate supplies and equipment needed for the procedure and ensuring the equipment is functioning properly

  • Properly cleans patient care area and equipment (e.g., bed, counters, mayo tray, etc.) following patient use by using the designated cleaning agent to clean and disinfect accordingly

  • Restocks patient /unit supplies according to established PAR levels

  • Demonstrates cost containment and effective materials management when ordering supplies from outside vendors by communicating with the Charge Nurse/ Nurse Manager regarding budget for these supplies and maintaining established PAR levels

  • Demonstrates proficiency in the use of specialized, non-routine equipment including, but not limited to: Argon Plasma Laser, ERBE cautery, gold-probe, resolution clips, and PEG tubes

  • Coordinates training for new departmental staff on use of GIPS equipment

  • Trains incoming fellows on the set up and use of the GI/pulmonary mobile cart


  • High School Diploma
  • Three (3) years endoscopy tech experience
  • Completion of SGNA Advanced Associates Program preferred
  • Knowledge of endoscopic equipment use and maintenance and infection control standards
  • Must be able to train new staff to proper use of equipment
  • Ability to manage time, and collaborate and communicate with others
  • Must be able to operate standard GI equipment such as manometry, endoscopes, dilatation, biopsy forceps, and polypectomy equipment, pulse oximeter electrocautery unit, as well as specialized equipment
