We are searching for a Senior Programmer/Analyst – someone who works well in a fast-paced hospital setting. In this position, you’ll organize and administer the configuration and development of Texas Children’s Health Plan information systems, and devise and design technical requirements of systems. You will be charged with the documentation and development of well-defined methods, procedures, programs and configurations in the delivery of systems.

Job Duties & Responsibilities


  • Analyzes and conducts the design and modification of Integrated Delivery System systems
  • Implements and controls the configuration and development of systems
  • Administers program and system tests
  • Develops system documentation
  • Maintains systems
  • Coordinates activities and information dissemination with manager, other Information Services personnel, users and vendors
  • Participates in strategic planning and Hospital-wide data planning



Skills & Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
  • 5 years experience in managed care information systems
  • Project management or project leadership experience preferred
  • Knowledge at expert level of current application and system development techniques
  • Knowledge of relational databases, appropriate programming languages, data structures, associated computer hardware, computer networking, a variety of operating systems and client/server data processing techniques
  • Ability to demonstrate logic and analytics skills
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Team-oriented work habits and good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to adapt to different levels of technical experience
  • Specific skills required are as follows:
    • SQL Server 2005/2008 (T-SQL, functions, views, database design & configuration
    • SQL Integration Services, SQL Server Analysis Services and SQL Server Reporting Services
    • Visual Studio 2005/2010. C# strongly preferred with an emphasis on Object-oriented programming
    • Preferably experience with ASP.NET or Silverlight
    • Basic understanding of XML
