Scheduled to open in 2017, Texas Children’s Hospital The Woodlands is a 548,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art free-standing pediatric hospital designed, equipped and staffed exclusively to treat children and adolescents in The Woodlands and counties throughout Greater North Houston such as Montgomery, Walker, Grimes, Liberty, Harris, Polk, San Jacinto and Hardin counties. Our new facility will include 25 emergency center rooms, 32 acute rooms, 28 critical care rooms, 12 radiology rooms and 4 operating rooms. Summary:

We are searching for an Anesthesia Technician - someone who works well in a fast-paced hospital setting. In this position, you’ll assist licensed anesthesia providers in the acquisition, preparation and application of the equipment and supplies required for the administration of anesthesia. You’ll also contribute to safe and efficient anesthesia care. Additionally, you’ll provide support to anesthesia in routine and complex surgical cases. You’ll provide service by preparing and maintain patient monitoring devices and anesthesia delivery systems before, during and after anesthesia.

Responsibilities :

Performs and/or assists with procedures Assists anesthesiologist with preparation and placement of neurophysiologic monitors Assists with induction by connecting patient to monitors Assists and anticipates needs of anesthesiologist in invasive monitor insertion and procedures such as arterial access, central venous access, fiberoptic intubation and/or difficult airway situations Prepares and sets up equipment Prepares age-appropriate anesthesia equipment, monitors, and airway Prepares and assembles transducer lines and equipment necessary for invasive monitoring Conducts other patient-related procedures Sets up, maintains and transports specialty devices used in the clinical area Trouble-shoots and corrects monitoring equipment problems Responds immediately to OR room calls that require assistance regarding supplies, pharmaceuticals, blood products, forms equipment or other items required during the surgical procedure Supervises the maintenance of anesthesia equipment Inventories and stocks anesthesia supplies consistent with departmental demands Maintains an inventory of properly functioning anesthesia equipment in designated area to track repairs Stocks the operating rooms, specialty carts, anesthesia carts, equipment rooms and remote anesthesia areas with disposable/reusable supplies used by anesthesia Provides input for capital budgets when requested by established deadlines Provides leadership role through appropriate delegation of patient care activities and technical training to staff and new personnel

 



Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent Completion of an anesthesia technician training program approved by the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians (ASATT) (or a high school diploma/equivalent and 2 years of work experience as an anesthesia technician Certification as an Anesthesia Technician (AT) by the ASATT preferred Knowledge of basic anatomy and physiology of the cardiopulmonary systems and infection control Advanced working knowledge of equipment for anesthesia and airway management and thorough knowledge of set-up and calibration of pressure transducer and IV fluids Ability to demonstrate knowledge relating to anesthesia procedures in order to effectively anticipate the needs of the anesthesiologist
