Scheduled to open in 2017, Texas Children’s Hospital The Woodlands is a 548,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art free-standing pediatric hospital designed, equipped and staffed exclusively to treat children and adolescents in The Woodlands and counties throughout Greater North Houston such as Montgomery, Walker, Grimes, Liberty, Harris, Polk, San Jacinto and Hardin counties. Our new facility will include 25 emergency center rooms, 32 acute rooms, 28 critical care rooms, 12 radiology rooms and 4 operating rooms. We are searching for a Patient Care Manager Nursing (Inpatient) - someone who works well in a fast-paced hospital setting. In this position, you’ll maintain shift accountability for clinical and personnel activities and to provide support to the Assistant Clinical Director. You will participate in the delivery of high quality, family centered and developmentally appropriate patient care at the unit level to faculty, trainees, staff and unpaid personnel who conduct the activities of the Division/Center.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provides age appropriate care for one or more of the following age groups routinely: Neonate, Infant, Child, Adolescent, Adult
  • Considers developmental age in approach to and preparation of child
  • Positions and handles child based on an understanding of developmental age
  • Implements safety measures that are appropriate to developmental age
  • Communicates appropriately with each developmental age group and their family
  • Maintains clinical competency, by ensuring that the physiologic, psychosocial, and developmental needs of the patient are met, within a family-centered care environment
  • Monitors and facilitates patient throughput to ensure the delivery of safe quality and efficient care  
  • Observes, identifies, and addresses human resources issues for assigned staff. Coaches, counsels, and develops nursing staff to ensure the delivery of high quality patient care
  • Monitors productivity and assures that staffing and resources are aligned with patient care needs
  • Supports the implementation of unit goals and communication of the organization’s strategic plan to staff
  • Participates in unit-based quality initiatives for the purpose of developing and monitoring clinical outcomes that demonstrate nursing excellence



  • Current RN Licensure by the Texas Board of Nurses
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN)
  • Two (2) years of nursing experience
  • Certification in specialty-specific area or nursing leadership, with completion of certification within 1 year of assuming the role
  • Knowledge of Word processing and quality improvement concepts
  • Ability to operate a personal computer and monitor the quality of nursing care
