Summary:

We are searching for a Transport Emergency Medical Technician - someone who works well in a fast-paced hospital setting. In this position, you’ll perform a variety of routine and specialized patient care activities, as assigned, under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN) or Respiratory Therapist (RT). You’ll deliver care that incorporates Family Centered Care in a cost-effective manner and is developmental and age-appropriate for the patient population.

Responsibilities :

  • Assures that the equipment and supplies are in a constant ready state for transport
  • Ensures that equipment and supplies are ready and properly functioning for transport and completes the daily documentation required
  • Cleans all equipment following appropriate disinfection procedures
  • Determines that the ambulances are in proper mechanical condition by checking and documenting items required by service management and notifies supervisor of any mechanical problems
  • Provides high quality, cost effective patient care and communication in collaboration with the RN and RT
  • Confirms the patient’s name, hospital address (including city/state), and location of the patient within the hospital with the transport team prior to departure
  • Obtains and documents vital signs and notifies the licensed professional of abnormal findings as evidenced by supervisory observation and review of medical records
  • Demonstrates commitment to Program Safety
  • Continually assesses ambulance safety procedures for effectiveness
  • Operates the ambulance using the most expeditious route, depending on weather and traffic conditions while observing all traffic ordinances and regulations concerning emergency vehicle operation
  • Maintains accountability for development of self and participates in development of others
  • Demonstrates willingness and ability to acquire new knowledge, demonstrate new skills needed to improve individual, team, and organizational performance as evidenced by supervisory observation and verbal/written feedback
  • Attends mandatory training and development activities and meets institutional and departmental health and safety requirements by established deadlines as evidenced by supervisory observation and verbal/written feedback
  • Demonstrates commitment to team, flexibility, professional interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of a formal approved EMS training course
  • Current EMT-B, EMT-I, or EMT-P certification by the Texas Department of State Health Services
  • Current Ambulance Driver Permit issued by the City of Houston
  • Successful completion of an emergency vehicle operation course (EVOC)
