Summary:

We are searching for a Manager of Patient Accounts – someone who works well is a fast-paced primary care setting. In this position you will be responsible for collection processes to ensure that the Hospital claims are collected in a timely manner and according hospital contracted terms and industry standards. You will be making routine decisions include adjusting or discounting a patient's account; establishing billing and collection parameters; reporting credit balances to the State; refunding a third party payor; ordering supplies or authorizing expenditures within the budget; scheduling work assignments; authorizing staff time-off and overtime; and coaching, counseling, and making hiring and terminating decisions.

Responsibilities :

  • Assists in the streamlining of the Managed Care and Commercial patient account processes to achieve and maintain revenue in accounts receivable at or below the monthly and annual goals
  • Assists in achieving and maintaining less than 15% of total accounts receivable over 90 days.
  • Ensures proper and timely collection follow-up techniques are being utilized by reviewing accounts and providing the staff with the tools to do their job, effective coaching and holding them accountable to the established goals
  • Reviews accounts recommended for contractual and other allowance write-off’s in a timely manner according to established policies
  • Utilizes RMS tools, reports and other system tools to measure productivity and performance of staff


Qualifications:

  • A knowledge of overall hospital operations including the billing (UB billing, HCFA 1500, ADA), collections, patient accounting systems, Fair Debt collection laws and practices
  • Thorough knowledge of Hospital Collections preferred
  • requires knowledge of HIPAA and of the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) processes, and various computer software
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare, or related field
  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible patient accounts and/or business office experience is required
  • Two (2) years supervisory experience preferred
  • A Certified Patient Account Manager is preferred
