Summary:

We are searching for an Echo Sonographer - someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you’ll perform high quality and complex echocardiographic exams and independently perform TEE studies on patients that range in age from neonates to adults.

Responsibilities :

  • Performs high quality echocardiographic exams and collaborates with the cardiology staff to make accurate diagnoses of complex congenital and acquired pediatric heart abnormalities
  • Performs complex quantification analysis and instructs lower level sonographers and Pediatric fellows in this analysis
  • Assists and participates with technical echocardiographic training of technologists, Pediatric Fellows and visitors
  • Participates in orientation plan and acts as preceptor
  • Performs daily operational maintenance of the Echo Lab supplies and equipment, ensuring that all supplies and equipment are checked for deficiencies and are safe for operation
  • Prepares equipment and the patient rooms (stocks linen and supplies) for daily operational use
  • Works with departmental staff and other healthcare professions to ensure high quality patient care
  • Participates in management/administrative assignments as required
  • Triages effectively, and is able to accommodate to flexible hour due to managerial/clerical responsibilities
  • Prepares and delivers educational offerings to echo sonographer staff
  • Engages in quality assurance control in the team
  • Works as alternative locations as needed to support patient care at the discretion of direct supervisor/manager or designee
  • Ensures completion of all departmental, regulatory and professional training requirements as prescribed


Qualifications:

  • Diploma from a school of ultrasound (e.g. Diagnostic Medical Sonography) OR a Bachelor’s degree in a biological science
  • Five (5) years of experience as an echo sonographer
  • Two (2) of the 5 years in a pediatric environment
  • Requires at least one of the following certifications:
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiology Sonographer (RDCS) by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
  • Registered Cardiovascular Sonographer (RCS) by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
  • Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS) by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
  • Ability to operate expertly the ultrasound equipment with specialized Cardiology software, TEE operations, and a desktop computer
