We are searching for a Payment Operations Representative – someone who works well in a fast-paced hospital setting. In this position, you will post and reconcile all payments, contractual allowances, discounts, adjustments, and/or other documentation to the appropriate patient account. You’ll also rocess customer/patient requests in timely and efficient manner, nsure actual payment received corresponds with expected reimbursement, and verify and correct plan balance information in the EPIC system.

Responsibilities :


  • Separates incoming payments received through lockbox, US Mail, internal mail, cashier, credit cards, Charity, or via payroll deduction memorandum, by batch and prepares for posting
  • Performs accurate posting of payments within the day of receipt as shown in batch posting reports. Downloads daily bank batches onto appropriate forms for posting distribution
  • Performs posting of payments and/or adjustments ensuring accurate patient account number, payment code, amount, and batch number, with no more than five (5) errors per quarter as reviewed by management
  • Processes credit card payments through the electronic data capture system and posts to appropriate account and invoice
  • Contacts patient, guarantor, and/or insurance company to verify information as necessary to ensure accurate posting as reviewed by management
  • Maintains a working knowledge of the denial system, including knowledge of when to post a denial versus a payment and adjustment
  • Accurately completed a Daily Cash Summary prior to close of business each day. This summary should reconcile to the payments posted in EPIC daily
  • Accurately completes a Cash Allowance Reconciliation Report within two days with an error rate of no more than two (2) errors per quarter as reviewed by management
  • Actively participates in the special assignments, program, or initiatives relating to departmental performance, observed and documented by Area Supervisor/Manager








  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Three (3) years of clerical experience is required, preferably in a hospital setting
  • Knowledge of basic math and a basic knowledge of healthcare
  • Ability to interact with a variety of people and display professional courtesy
  • Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
