Summary:

We are searching for a Medical Interpreter - someone who works well in a fast-paced hospital setting. In this position, you’ll provide interpreting and translation services as needed while presenting a positive, professional image of our organization.

Responsibilities :

  • Provides oral interpreting services for domestic and international patients
  • Provides oral interpreting of clinical and health care related discussions involving staff, patients, families and physicians
  • Responds to interpreting assignments in an expedient and professional manner
  • Maintains proper medical terminology vocabulary and fluency both in English and target language
  • Provides telephone interpreting services
  • Provides accurate interpretation services over the telephone for: inpatient, outpatient, day surgery and emergency center
  • Provides written translation services while following established rules pertaining to word meaning, grammar and sentence structure
  • Accurately translates discharge instructions upon request
  • Performs departmental duties as needed
  • Insures that interpretation appointment schedules are maintained accurately and timely
  • Supports the international patient program
  • Assists department representative with the orientation of West Campus and all services available to the international patients and their families

 



Qualifications:

  • High school diploma
  • Two (2) years of related healthcare experience
  • Advanced proficiency in oral and written English and the target language
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
