We are looking for the right Pediatric Nurse Practitioner for our Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery program.  The ideal applicant is someone who works well in a fast-paced, highly efficient clinical setting. Our Advanced Practice professional team functions as a cohesive group that engages in an active partnership with our physician colleagues to provide world class pediatric orthopedic surgery healthcare. We are looking for the next addition to our team who can thrive in a busy clinical setting.

Responsibilities :

  • Conducts complex, standardized patient care procedures which require experience and specialized training which would otherwise be performed by a physician but which do not constitute the practice of medicine.
  • Assesses patient’s medical complaints and provides appropriate treatment.
  • Manages pre-operative and post-operative patients in coordination with the faculty supervising physician.
  • Utilizes advanced assessment skills to anticipate complex patient problems specific to pediatric orthopedic surgery while communicating information to supervising / attending physician.
  • Assists in collection patient histories.
  • Performs physical examinations and provides episodic care or problem oriented care under the supervision of a physician.
  • Orders appropriate laboratory tests and interprets the laboratory data such as blood and urine samples.
  • Monitors the treatment program of the patient to inform the attending physician of pertinent medical/surgical information.
  • Provides guidance and instruction to patients on preventive health care or postsurgical care.
  • Assists physicians in formulating therapeutic decisions.
  • Enters appropriate and accurate documentation in a timely into the electronic medical record.
  • Responds to emergency situations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Works with physicians, advanced practice providers, registered nurses, orthopedic technicians, and medical assistants to meet the needs of each patient and family by acting as a flexible, hands-on member of our care team.



  • Master of Science in Nursing Registered Nurse (RN) License from the Texas Board of Nursing Advanced practice recognition from the Texas Board of Nursing (PNP)
  • Current BLS and PALS certification
  • DEA certifications
  • Fundamental knowledge of pediatric assessment and treatment
  • Knowledge of related OSHA, CLIA and JCAHO guidelines and requirements
  • 2 years of Pediatric or Orthopedic Surgery patient care experience
  • Reliable transportation as travel required to satellite Texas Children’s Health Center Clinics located throughout the greater Houston area.  Advanced Practice Providers conduct independent clinics including but not limited to the following TCH Health Centers:   Cy-Fair, Clear Lake, Sugarland, and Kingwood.
