We are searching for a Coding Specialist II - NRG Stadium – someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you’ll assign ICD-9-CM and CPT codes to records for billing, researching, and providing information to government agencies and insurance companies.

Responsibilities :

  • Reviews and interprets documentation for appropriate diagnosis and procedures
  • Identifies principle and secondary diagnoses as well as procedure codes from the electronic medical record and/or paper record
  • Utilizes the encoder to generate ICD-9-CM and CPT codes for diagnosis and procedures
  • Utilizes other available resources for assignment of codes as necessary (e.g., Epic, MIQS, Cardio IMS, Logician, and coding reference materials)
  • Completes neonatal information regarding birth weight, gestational age, TPN, ECMO and number of ventilator days
  • Extracts data regarding blood types/number of units and special unit stays
  • Processes spreadsheets including charge master e-bills
  • Identifies incorrect admit/discharge dates
  • Provides ICD-9 and CPT codes for Business Services and physician office requests regarding non-billed or non-reimbursed claims
  • Reviews charts for completeness
  • Participates in coding roundtable
  • Facilitates coding education sessions (webinars, audio conferences, seminars, lunch and learn, newsletters) by deciding on the specialty service needing discussion for each month
  • Resolves coding and compliance issues to ensure physician documentation criteria are in compliance with state and federal regulations and guidelines
  • Assigns procedure codes for extended patient stays as requested by patient accounting for billing cycle purposes


  • High school diploma or GED
  • CPC Preferred
  • 2 years of experience in coding
