We are searching for a Sr. Speech Pathologist to work at Texas Children's Hospital Clear Lake Health Center in the Therapy Department--someone who can thrive in a fast-paced healthcare environment.  In this position, you will appropriately diagnose and treat patients primarily between the ages of 0 - 21 years with speech, oral motor/swallowing, language and learning disorders.

Responsibilities :

  • Performs patient evaluations/consultations and interpret results
  • Reviews case files to obtain background information prior to evaluation/consultation; interviews patient and family/caregiver; administers formal and informal tests; interprets results of tests and determines diagnoses; provides results to patient and family/caregiver and to referral source; consults with other professionals; makes recommendations for treatment; makes referrals for other evaluations/consultations; maintains productivity in accordance with budgetary guidelines
  • Performs appropriate treatment of patients; develops treatment plan in conjunction with patient and family/caregiver; implements treatment plan and monitors progress; reviews treatment plan and modifies as needed; involves family/caregiver in treatment through education and supportive counseling; provides monitoring and follow-up services
  • Maintains records; documents evaluation procedures, results, diagnoses and recommendations; documents treatment goals, procedures, progress and recommendations; documents telephone calls, consultations and patient/family conferences
  • Attends and participates in continuing education programs; provides in-service teaching to colleagues; supervises student interns and Clinical Fellows in Speech-Language Pathology; participates in research activities


  • Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)
  • Licensure by the Texas State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology
  • Minimum of one (1) year of professional speech-language pathology experience with pediatrics is required
  • Knowledge of normal and abnormal development, anatomy and physiology of the speech/swallowing mechanism, types of disorders and their etiologies, diagnostic procedures and treatment procedures
  • Ability to diagnose and treat speech, oral motor/swallowing, language and learning disorders
  • Ability to use a PC, general office and audio/video equipment
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to retain confidential patient information
  • In some instances, the ability to use specialized equipment
