Summary:

We are searching for a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner – someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. This position will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of pediatric cardiology and critical care providers who follow infants with complex single ventricle heart disease in an outpatient setting.  Your direct patient care duties will span the care continuum, with a focus on supporting patients and families that have transitioned to an outpatient setting and require weekly clinic follow-up. In addition, you will include structured time for family and provider education, quality improvement activities, and care management.

Responsibilities :

  • Daily utilization of advanced practice knowledge and skills to systematically collect and evaluate health assessment data
  • Consistently demonstrate effective communication skills and work to eliminate communication barriers
  • Consistently serve as an educational resource for the patient, family, community, and other health care professionals
  • Consistently apply new knowledge relevant to pediatric nursing and clinical practice
  • Demonstrate current professional, managerial, and/or technical knowledge and skills
  • Participate in departmental quality improvement programs annually


Qualifications:

  • Master’s of science in nursing
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license from the Texas Board of Nursing 
  • Advanced practice recognition from the Texas Board of Nursing (FNP, NNP, WHCNP or PNP-BC)
  • Broad knowledge of nursing functions and medical terminology
  • Ability to operate all types of equipment and perform routine and special procedures used in the daily advanced nursing care of children
