We are searching for an Assistant Director of Finance – someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will prepare a framework in which our financial performance can be continuously measured against quantifiable targets that are established by and acceptable to all levels of authority, ranging from departmental managers to the Board of Trustees. You will also ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded in the ledger, the primary financial statements are fairly stated and reported, and the efforts to generate audited financial statements are coordinated. Finally, you will ensure efficiency with our reporting processes and liaise with claims, business analytics, and eligibility to ensure work flows are working appropriately.

Responsibilities :

  • Direct the preparation and review of entries related to the GAAP financial statements, ensure financial transactions are recorded accurately, as well as direct the preparation and review of statutory financial statements and coordinate conversations with state regulators
  • Maintain knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and advise the director on emerging issues, training accounting staff as needed
  • Ensure efficient work processes exist between other departments and ensure the data integrity of financial reported obtained from IT systems
  • Coordinate the annual financial audit and quarterly financial reviews, ensuring that information is provided to external auditors in a timely manner
  • Direct the preparation of responses to internal audit/internal controls reviews and coordinate the effort to review and make changes as needed
  • Participate in the direct leadership of the finance department by handling training activities for staff
  • Ensure the ongoing development and review of departmental policies and procedures by coordinating revisions with the appropriate staff  


  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • CPA certification preferred
  • 5 years’ experience in an accounting environment with 2 years’ experience in a supervisor role
  • Knowledge of GAAP, statutory accounting principles, GAAS, operational accounting procedures, and an in-depth understanding of non-profit accounting
