Summary:

We are searching for a Coding Quality Assurance Specialist II — someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will assign and/or audit the accuracy of the ICD-10-CM and CPT codes for ambulatory, emergency center, observation, and day surgery records for purposes of billing, research, and providing information to government and regulatory agencies. You will determine the accuracy of the physicians' E/M, code their documentation, complete the auditing report tool, and provide feedback to the education team and/or provider.

Responsibilities :

  • Review and interpret documentation for the appropriate diagnosis and procedures and communicate and provide feedback to the education team and/or providers
  • Complete neonatal information regarding birth weight, gestational age, TPN, ECMO and the number of ventilator days
  • Identify any problems that are incorrect within accounts, including incorrect admit/discharge dates and patient types and make necessary changes to correct inaccuracies
  • Facilitate coding education sessions (webinars, audio conferences, seminars, lunch and learn, newsletters) and choose the specialty service discussions for each month
  • Assist in auditing records and participate in record reviews as required
  • Maintain concurrent coding for inpatient records and assign diagnosis and procedure codes for patients in-house


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Certified Coding Associate from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) or
  • Certified Coding Specialist-Physician Based from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) or
  • Certified Coding Specialist from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) or
  • Certified Inpatient Coder from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) or
  • Certified Outpatient Coder from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) or
  • Certified Professional Coder from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) or
  • Certified Professional Coder Apprentice from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) or
  • Certified Registered Health Information Administrator from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) or
  • Certified Registered Health Information Technician from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in coding
