We are searching for a Strategic Sourcing Specialist — someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you'll develop sourcing strategies in collaboration with stakeholders, market analysis, contract development, supplier negotiations, and selection of equipment, supplies, services, and construction. With limited direction, this position requires effective team leadership of supplier negotiation strategies, including the ability to develop Request for Proposal (RFP), Request for Information (RFI), and review of any procurement contracts. Your overall objective will be to obtain the best products and services at the lowest cost to the organization. You will need a working knowledge of the procurement laws, rules, regulations, standardized principles, processes, and practices of professional procurement.

Job Duties & Responsibilities


  • Assists in contract negotiations, development of competitive procurement documents (RFPs/RFIs), implementation, and administration of supplier contracts and agreements in the sourcing of goods and services for the hospital’s entities
  • Contacts end user to determine strategy and expected timeline for completion of RFPs/RFIs and drafts RFP/RFI documents using appropriate templates
  • Distributes RFP/RFI documents to potential qualified vendors, coordinates and conducts pre-bid meetings (on or off-campus) with potential vendors to review RFPs/RFIs
  • Monitors progress of RFP/RFI through the process and takes appropriate action to mitigate timing delays
  • Receives, evaluates, and tabulates responses of RFPs/RFIs from potential vendors
  • Reviews, negotiates, redlines, and drafts all procurement business terms for assigned contracts and amendments within timeframes established by department management and contacts end user to determine strategy/expected timeline for contract completion
  • Prepares final draft of procurement business terms for the contract and completes approval department owner approval documentation
  • Provides Contracts Department with a complete document package for legal review, signature routing, and record retention processing in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Monitors supply markets, conducts market intelligence and price benchmarks and utilizes information obtained to develop comprehensive reports, presentations, contract negotiations, and savings opportunities
  • Assists with writing, reviewing, and maintaining policies and procedures in the areas of strategic sourcing, competitive procurements, contract processing, negotiations, vendor management, contract pricing retention, and compliance
  • Attends and represents the department at internal and external professional meetings
  • Prepares and delivers presentations to department manager, assistant director, director, VP, Executive Council, and hospital departments when required



Skills & Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, or related field
  • 5 years of experience in contracts, requests for proposals, and requests for bids, preferably in a health care environment
  • CPM - Certified Purchasing Manager and CPMSM - Cert-Cert PROF Med Servic Mgmt from Institute of Supply Chain Management (ISM) preferred
  • CMRP - Cert-Cert Material/RESORC PROF from Association for Healthcare Resource & Materials Management (AHRMM) preferred
