We are searching for a Childbirth/Parenting Educator— someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will provide education and instruction to expectant parents with a focus on healthy pregnancy, preparation for childbirth, breastfeeding, infant care, and postpartum issues in ways that utilize methods conducive for adult learners. Lastly, this position will be required to work a minimum of 4 weekend days a month.

Responsibilities :

Job Duties & Responsibilities


  • Lead evening and weekend group classes for parents-to-be and new parents on topics including childbirth, newborn care, breastfeeding and infant CPR
  • Lead hospital tours
  • Observe and assess client responses to instruction and recommend necessary changes/modifications to the educational curriculum
  • Attend continuing education workshops, seminars, and in-services to fulfill all mandatory education requirements for certification and required hospital training
  • Participate in hospital performance improvement activities (committees, in-services, task forces), offer written or verbal recommendations, and participate in the development of team goals on a yearly basis


Skills & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in health care or education related field  
  • An associate degree in nursing or a nursing diploma and a current license from the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas may substitute for a bachelor’s degree
  • A bachelor’s degree in other disciplines plus one-year experience in teaching adult learners may substitute for a bachelor’s degree in health care or education related field
  • Certified Childbirth Educator from Lamaze International or the International Childbirth Education Association preferred
  • Minimum one-year experience teaching adult learners or
  • Minimum one-year experience working in a health care setting with pregnant women or parents with newborns
  • IBCLC Certification preferred
