We are searching for a Staff Attorney — someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will support the Director of Senior Legal Counsel in providing legal counsel and guidance to the organization and its affiliated entities. You will interact with state and federal agencies, work with and serve as a liaison to outside counsel and provide counsel regarding contractual arrangements. Lastly, you will participate in meetings and serve on committees as appropriate while leading and supporting any other matters assigned by the Director of Senior Legal Counsel.

Responsibilities :

  • Provides legal guidance relating to regulatory, transactional and operational issues, including responsibility for the following major legal functions:
    • Medical Staff issues, including credentialing and peer review matters
    • fraud and abuse
    • physician practice management-physician contracting
    • healthcare operations contracting
    • privacy of health information
    • telemedicine
    • clinical research issues
    • EMTALA
  • Provide legal counsel and guidance, including written legal opinions and memoranda, to the institution's management and staff
  • Research, investigate and remediate legal and corporate compliance issues
  • Draft, review, and revise contractual agreements entered into by the organization and its affiliated entities
  • Coordinate and assist in contract negotiations and the execution of those contractual agreements
  • Provide assistance and work with other attorneys in the department on various projects



  • Juris Doctor Degree
  • Active license to practice law in the state of Texas
  • 2 years of legal experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all types of clients, all levels of Texas Children’s leadership, and third parties
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing, verbally, and in presentation format
  • Must possess effective negotiation skills
