Summary:

We are looking for a Manager of Clinical Documentation Integrity – someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will provide support to the Assistant Director, CDI Physician Advisor(s), and the Coding Team in addition to the Clinical Documentation Specialist (CDS) functions. You will assist and follow-up on processes assigned, ensure continuity of reviewed accounts, and monitor accuracy to ensure all CDSs are reviewing charts appropriately. This position will also assist the CDSs with the implementation and training of any new and existing software applications. special projects as assigned.

Responsibilities :

  • Manages, ensures competencies, and evaluates the activities of assigned staff
  • Initiates timely contact with providers for documentation clarification
  • Review reports and provide education to staff as needed
  • Ensure staff are in compliance with workflows per best practice, and internal policies and procedures
  • Actively communicate with members of the medical staff and effectively promote the purpose of the CDI program
  • Actively participates in the special assignments, programs, or initiatives relating to departmental performance such as special training in new coding and auditing techniques, new laws or code changes
  • Assists with training of new employees which will include; evaluating accounts, accessing and reviewing coded accounts, documentation requirements, query process, escalation process, and overall daily routine


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 3 years clinical documentation experience required
  • 3 years supervisory experience preferred
  • General knowledge of anatomy & physiology, medical terminology, reimbursement methodologies, coding guidelines, pharmacology, and abbreviations
  • Ability to communicate effectively both oral and written, organizational, detail orientation. Ability to read physician documentation, good interpersonal skills; decision-making skills; professional courtesy and the ability to operate a PC and general office equipment
  • Registered Nurse license from the Texas Board of Nursing required OR
  • RHIA certification from the American Health Information Management Association OR
  • RHIT certification from the American Health Information Management Association OR
  • CCS certification from the American Health Information Management Association OR
  • CPC certification from the American Association of Professional Coders OR
  • CCDS DOC certification from the Association of Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists OR
  • CDIP certification from the American Health Information Management Association
