We are searching for a Senior Morgue Assistant — someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will assist Pathologists in performing autopsies, maintain the cryostat and morgue areas, and transport specimens, bodies, and supplies.

Responsibilities :

  • Receives and delivers postmortem bodies, tissue, and other specimens
  • Assists in postmortem examination and inputs patient data in CoPath
  • Maintains the Cryostat and Morgue areas
  • Performs quality control procedures and documents instrument maintenance
  • Participates in teaching and continuing education


  • High school diploma or GED
  • 6 months of mortuary training or work experience in a morgue required
  • Associate degree or higher in mortuary studies or biology may substitute for experience requirement
  • Knowledge of hospital and mortuary operations
  • Ability to communicate effectively; exhibit sound independent judgment
  • Basic knowledge of computer functions; working knowledge of specimen processing and transporting, photography, x-rays, balances, autopsy equipment, lab clean up, inventory, and storage procedures
