Summary:

We are looking for a Coding Quality Assurance Specialist– someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will assign and/or audit the accuracy of the ICD-10-CM and CPT codes to ambulatory, emergency center, observation, and day surgery records for purposes of billing, research, and providing information to government and regulatory agencies. Ascertain the accuracy of the physicians' E/M and procedure coding to their documentation, complete the auditing reporting tool, and provide feedback to the education team and/or provider. You may perform only certain of the following responsibilities depending on their particular work assignment.

Responsibilities :

  • Assigns and/or audits ICD-10-CM, and CPT codes, and generates codes with 98% accuracy
  • Completes abstracts for records when appropriate with 98% accuracy
  • Identifies problem accounts
  • Corrects problem accounts
  • Participates in Coding Roundtables
  • Assists in auditing records
  • Maintains concurrent coding for inpatient records


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Two years coding experience required
  • Knowledge of coding guidelines, anatomy and physiology, biology and microbiology, pharmacology, medical terminology and abbreviations
  • Verbal and written communication, organizational, typing (35-45 wpm) and data entry skills, detail orientation, and ability to identify physician signatures and interpret physician notes accurately in order to assign correct codes in a timely manner
  • CCA certification from the American Health Information Management Association, Or
  • CCC-P certification from the American Health Information Management Association, Or
  • CCS certification from the American Health Information Management Association, Or
  • CIPC certification from the American Academy of Professional Coders, Or
  • COC certification from the American Academy of Professional Coders, Or
  • CPC certification from the American Academy of Professional Coders, Or
  • CPC-A certification from the American Academy of Professional Coders, Or
  • RHIA certification from the American Health Information Management Association, Or
  • RHIT certification from the American Health Information Management Association
