We are searching for a Staff Attorney— someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will support a Director, Senior Legal Counsel in providing legal counsel and guidance to the organization and its affiliated entities; interacts with state and federal agencies as appropriate; provides counsel regarding contractual arrangements; works with and serves as a liaison to outside counsel; participates in meetings and serves on committees as appropriate; leads and supports on other matters as assigned by the Director, Senior Legal Counsel. You must have transactional experience in a healthcare organization to be successful in this role.

Responsibilities :

  • Provides legal counsel and guidance to Texas Children's and its affiliated entities under the direction of Legal counsel
  • Responsible for legal review of pharmacy contractual arrangements and operations, including review of specialty pharmacy operations, the 340B program, and PBM and managed care arrangements
  • Advises leadership and staff in areas of pharmacy contract formation, negotiation of contract terms, and compliance with contractual obligations; performs legal research, drafts memoranda, reviews policies and procedures, and other legal functions as directed
  • Provides assistance to other attorneys in the Legal Department as assigned
  • Performs other internal operations of the department.


  • Juris Doctor Degree required
  • License to practice law in the state of Texas required
  • 2 years of legal experience required
  • Experience supporting a pharmacy organization preferred
  • Knowledge of applicable areas of law and proven ability to provide practical legal advice that protects the assets and standing of the organization
  • Must be able to communicate effectively outside of the company as well as with all levels of the organization’s leadership and end users
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in writing, verbally, and in presentation format
  • Must possess effective negotiation and resolution skills
  • Also required is the ability to effectively utilize computer word processing and spreadsheets software
  • Must be able to organize information and resources, effectively prioritize and manage multiple projects and tasks
