We are searching for a Coding Quality Assurance Specialist I — someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you’ll assign and/or audit the accuracy of the ICD-10-CM and CPT codes to ambulatory, emergency center, observation, and day surgery records for the purpose of billing, research, and providing information to government and regulatory agencies.

Responsibilities :

  • Review documentation in records for diagnosis and surgical procedures
  • Utilize the encoder to generate ICD-10-CM and CPT codes for diagnosis and procedures
  • Sequence diagnosis and procedures to generate appropriate DRGs for billing
  • Utilize available resources for assignment of codes as necessary
  • Input codes into the Epic computer system utilizing the Encoder
  • List the patient’s personal and medical history information from reports, including past and present medications, allergies, diagnoses, procedures, and surgeries
  • Perform reviews of backlogged charts
  • Identify incorrect admit/discharge dates and/or incorrect patient type
  • Attend and participate in coding education sessions


  • High school diploma or GED required
  • RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, CPC-A, or CIC certification required
  • 1 year experience as a coder preferred
