Summary:

We are searching for a HIM Documentation Specialist I— someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will provide coverage for a variety of routine Medical Record Department technical processing functions which may include; record retrieval and delivery, chart pick up, record processing for completion, assembly, analysis and transcription processing, physician assistance, microfilm processing, and the release of information.  Weekend coverage would be required one weekend out of the month as well as coverage for one official company holiday per year.

Responsibilities :

  • Retrieve, deliver, compile, scan and/or process medical records
  • Ensure medical record quality controls by handling and processing all medical records according to established departmental and business policies and procedures, as well as all ethical, legal and regulatory requirements
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients, physicians, staff and all other customers
  • Perform reception duties as needed which may include; mailing letters, greeting customers and answering the phone and other related duties
  • Provide leadership through appropriate delegation of patient care activities and technical training to staff and new personnel
  • Oversee telephone coverage, utilizing the appropriate customer service skills, and filing processes


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • A least 1-year experience in working with electronic records
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience of medical record department experience preferred
