We are searching for a Child Life Activity Coordinator - someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you’ll provide a comprehensive play program with a focus on ensuring opportunities for normal growth and development, normalization/master of the environment, peer-to-peer support by encouraging family and peer interaction, as well as healing experiences through play.

Responsibilities :

  • Prioritize patient play/activity needs through daily report or verbal consults as evidenced by unit leadership team observation
  • Provide developmentally-appropriate environments and activities for patients of all ages
  • Develop play-based programming based on patient population and facilitate planned normalization activities
  • Encourage socialization and interaction between patients and families
  • Maintain the concept of activity areas as safe, welcoming, and supportive places by ensuring that medical procedures/examinations occur outside of the activity area
  • Encourage caregiver involvement in the patient’s daily activities by extending invitations to activity rooms and informing them of available resources
  • Plan a weekly/monthly calendar of developmentally-appropriate special events
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to assess individualized patient care goals that can be met through play
  • Assess school service eligibility, as well as educate and initiate families about the potential resources
  • Monitor and track activity room purchases to maintain the budget
  • Monitor activity room usage and adherence to infection control and hospital policies
  • Conduct scheduled volunteer orientation and support their training and learning
  • Respond to all internal/external written correspondence
  • Coordinate and execute the Bow Wow Buddies program


  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 1 year experience working with children inside or outside a hospital environment
  • Experience with music, arts, theatre, and children preferred
