We are looking for an Actuarial Consultant -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will provide actuarial oversight for multiple functions within the organization, including the Incurred But Not Paid ("IBNR") accrual, Premium Deficiency Reserve ("PDR") accrual and reinsurance processes as well as financial planning and analysis. Additionally, you will provide actuarial oversight for functions within the hospital’s system, including pension plan assumptions and self-insurance for medical malpractice.

Responsibilities :

  • Provides actuarial oversight for multiple functions within our organization
  • Provides other assistance as needed to ensure successful departmental operations
  • Implements actuarial best practice policies and procedures
  • Reviews and approves monthly internal inputs into the IBNR and PDR calculations
  • Responsible for actuarial ownership for reinsurance strategy and provides senior management analysis for policy making
  • Supports financial analysis team with best-in-class actuarial techniques for rate setting and budgeting/forecasting
  • Researches, analyzes, and summarizes key findings on special projects and emerging accounting and actuarial standards and regulations
  • Proactively identifies opportunities and threats from regulatory changes to actuarial items; actively manages and mitigates actuarial-related regulatory and compliance issues faced by the hospital


  • Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, accounting, finance, statistics or mathematics required
  • Master’s degree in actuarial science preferred
  • FSA or ASA credentials from the Society of Actuaries required
  • 5 years’ actuarial experience required
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP and statutory accounting
  • Knowledge of Medicaid and Managed Care operating principles
