We are searching for a Communications Center Operator I— someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will answer and direct incoming and outgoing messaging services via telephone/paging systems and in-house communications systems. This role will enact emergency and disaster preparedness procedures in support of hospital system physicians, clinicians, and staff.

Responsibilities :

  • Answers and directs incoming telephone calls in a professional and courteous manner
  • Assists in the maintenance of on-call schedules, providers contact information, and services and departments in the paging system
  • Provides patient information to callers as allowed under hospital policy and federal and state regulations
  • Updates and maintains daily listings on the communication center team site, with information regarding pager changes and on-call schedules
  • Assists in the training of the communication centers operation staff in the use of the paging system and on-call schedule application
  • Aids with departmental support when needed, including but not limited to: processing pagers for new personnel, exchanging broken pagers, processing loaner pagers, distributing batteries for pagers, and logging information into the correct system
  • Assists Quality Manager and Directors of Regional Operations in working with tools and educational support for quality and other related activities



  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience as a telephone switchboard operator preferred
  • Experience in a health care environment preferred
