Summary:

We are searching for a Technical Supervisor — someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will provide effective guidance and operation of the laboratory in agreement with departmental and institutional goals. You will coordinate technical procedures to ensure that high-quality laboratory services and testing are being provided to patients in a timely and cost-effective manner. Lastly, you will provide operational leadership to staff within the lab department.

Responsibilities :

  • Recognize and solve administrative/operational problems and develop new methodologies and procedures to coordinate the performance of method evaluations
  • Develop and maintain a quality program for Blood Bank/ Coagulation to include setting quality control performance policies, calibration and calibration verification review of quality assurance data and equipment
  • Manage blood product inventory and blood product expenses
  • Maintain emergency release and massive transfusion protocols
  • Maintain Blood Bank dashboard and present data at quarterly Transfusion Committee Meeting
  • Coordinate and facilitate continuing education events for the staff and develop competency and training tools for Hematology/Coagulation procedures
  • Maintain supply inventory and monitor supply expenses and usage of consumables to stay within budget
  • Coordinate staffing schedule to ensure efficient operations of the lab and appropriately allocating to meet the lab’s patient care demands


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science
  • Certified Technologist in Blood Banking from the American Society for Clinical Pathology or
  • Certified Technologist in Chemistry from the American Society for Clinical Pathology or
  • Certified Technologist in Cytogenetics from the American Society for Clinical Pathology or
  • Certified Clinical Laboratory Specialist from the National Credentialing Agency
  • Certified Technologist in Hematology from the American Society for Clinical Pathology or
  • Certified Histotechnologist from the American Society for Clinical Pathology or
  • Certified Technologist in Microbiology from the American Society for Clinical Pathology or
  • Certified Technologist in Molecular Biology from the American Society for Clinical Pathology or
  • Certified Medical Laboratory Scientist from the American Society for Clinical Pathology or
  • Certified Technologist in Molecular Pathology from the American Society for Clinical Pathology or
  • Certified Medical Technologist from the American Medical Technologist or
  • Certified Medical Laboratory Technician from the American Society for Clinical Pathology or
  • Medical Technologist from any state or
  • Certified Specialist in Blood Banking from the American Society for Clinical Pathology or
  • Certified Specialist in Chemistry from the American Society for Clinical Pathology or
  • A minimum of 4 years’ experience in a laboratory setting, one (1) of which is in the area of specialization
  • SBB (Specialist in Blood Banking Technology, SBB(ASCP) Certification) preferred
