We are searching for an Academic Coordinator (Cardiovascular Surgery)  someone coordinate and support all academic functions for department faculty.  Will also assist practice administrator and administrative supervisor with Chief's priorities for the department. 


Think you’ve got what it takes?

  •  familiarity with CV Surgery / hospital experience
  •  pediatrice admin experience

Responsibilities :

  • Maintains faculty biographies posted on Texas Children’s external website.
  • Maintains department records of faculty (i.e., curriculum vitae, licensures, CMEs) for credentialing and licensure.
  • Initiates EPIC queries for faculty clinical activity log requests.
  • Conducts articles pulls, Pub Med searches at the request of faculty.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Collaborates with faculty in the preparation of abstracts, posters, manuscripts, book chapters, etc.
  • Helps prepare PowerPoint lectures.
  • Assists Administrative Supervisor and/or Practice Administrator with department priorities as identified by the Chief of Service.
  • Assists Administrative Supervisor in maintenance of department call schedule.
  • Assists Practice Administrator with completion of monthly Physician Time Studies for Government Reporting. Assists Practice Administrator with completion of bi-weekly employee time sheets
  • Assists Administrative Supervisor and/or Practice Administrator with scheduling, travel arrangements, construction of itinerary, and reimbursements.
  • Maintains department calendar of celebrations to ensure high department morale (birthdays, holiday party, departmental social events, etc.)


  • HS Diploma/GED is required, however Bachelors degree is highly preferred
  • 5yrs of comparable in coordinating or supporting academic functions is required

Knowledge of department academic goals and activities.

  • Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Must be trained and knowledgeable of audience response software
  • Must be trained and knowledgeable of SharePoint software
  • Proficient in MS Office software to include Word, Excel, Power Point
