We are searching for an Ambulatory Services Representative I - someone who works well in a fast-paced hospital setting. In this position, you’ll provide excellent customer service as the first contact for patients, providers, and staff accessing ambulatory clinics. You will expedite the outpatient check-in and checkout processes by reviewing appointment statuses using the electronic appointment system to view information regarding appointment, insurance, and history. Additionally, you will collect pre-visit payments and communicate with the clinic liaison regarding factors impacting the patient visit and general clinic-patient flow.

Responsibilities :

  • Promotes customer service in the clinic
  • Facilitates the appointment check-in procedure
  • Transacts, maintains, and reports the balance and activity of up-front collections and petty cash funds with 98% accuracy
  • Obtains signatures on required documents
  • Performs order entry and schedules ancillary testing for patients as ordered by the provider
  • Completes checkout for patients and families
  • Assists with operations for clinical floors


  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two (2) years medical or business office experience
  • A college degree preferred
  • Experience in a healthcare setting or customer service focused industry preferred
  • Knowledge of the managed care industry, appointment scheduling, related medical terminology, and customer service concepts
  • Ability to proficiently operate a personal computer and basic office equipment
  • Ability to demonstrate interpersonal skills
  • Ability to demonstrate good verbal communication skills
  • Ability to demonstrate good time management skills and provide excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to demonstrate quick decision-making and self-initiated work behaviors
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English preferred
