We are searching for a Referral Clerk -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will coordinate the referral process.

Responsibilities :

  • Coordinates with Care Team (specifically Care Coordinators, Triage Nurses and Patient Navigators) to make specialty referrals and communicates to patient/family and Care Team accordingly
  • Assesses patient’s eligibility for referral by verifying coverage with payor prior to initiating referral
  • Initiates and processes referral
  • Assists patients, per practice protocol who have emergencies or have self-referred without prior authorization
  • Documents referral process
  • Maintains referral log, including documentation that patient with referring physician was notified, with 90% accuracy
  • Demonstrates commitment to team, flexibility, professional interpersonal, communication, critical thinking, and customer service skills
  • Demonstrates the ability to problem solve, identifies appropriate resources, adapt to ongoing change, and handle conflict management with a professional and supportive attitude


  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Two years’ experience preferred
