Summary:

We are searching for a Certified Nurse Midwife — someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you'll provide independent midwifery services to patients but collaborates with the attending physician and interdisciplinary health team.

 

This Midwife will work with a hospital based private midwifery practice. We are seeking an experienced midwife to join an established group of 5 midwives. This is a full scope practice which including office gynecology, office prenatal care, hospital based delivery and call. We are looking for a midwife who believes that the experience of childbirth is more than a physiological event. Midwives who wish to provide supportive, evidenced based midwifery care while encouraging women to be active participants in their self-care are encouraged to apply. The practice is located in The Houston Medical Center. This practice has strong physician support for consultation and collaborative practice. Interest in teaching midwifery students is a must.

 



Responsibilities :

  • Develops and maintains a caseload of patients based on practice goals and objective
  • Provides direct clinical services and management of mothers and babies as defined in the Nurse Midwife Collaborative
  • Guidelines of the practice
  • Obtains patient health histories and completes physical examinations. Documents findings noting pertinent normal and abnormal findings
  • Explains the necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of procedure(s) to patient, family and staff
  • Consults and/or serves as an expert consultant to nursing, members of the healthcare team and to the larger community
  • Participates in and supports accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities of the organization

 



Qualifications:

  • Graduation from a school of midwifery
  • Degree Nursing
  • RN - Lic-Registered Nurses Texas Board of Nursing
  • CNM - Cert-Certified Nurse-Midwife American Midwifery Certification Board
  • APN - Lic-Registered Nurses - APN Texas Board of Nursing
  • ACLS - Cert-Adv Cardiac LS ACLS American Heart Association
  • NRP - Cert-Neonatal Resusci Prog American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Heart Association
