Summary:

We are searching for an MRI Generalist – someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you’ll be responsible for quality routine and specialized radiographic procedures at the request licensed independent practitioner for interpretation by radiologists. You will need to integrate scientific knowledge, technical skills, patient interaction and compassionate care resulting in diagnostic information, and recognizes patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure. You must possess, utilize, maintain and enhance knowledge of radiation safety and protection for self, patients and others. You will serve as liaison between patients, radiologist and other members of the support team.  As member of the health care team, you must participate in quality improvement processes and continually assess your professional performance. You must also think critically, use independent, professional and ethical judgment in all aspects of their work, and must engage in continuing education to include their area of practice to enhance patient care, public education, knowledge and technical competence.

Responsibilities :

• Assesses factors that may contraindicate the procedure; such as, medication contraindications, patient risk for reaction to medications, patient history, laboratory results, insufficient patient preparation or artifacts
• Demonstrating age appropriate care with all patients, appropriately prepares patients for procedures
• Maintains current knowledge on equipment, materials, medications and processes
• Performs routine, STAT, urgent, and on-call procedures while accurately demonstrating understanding of anatomy and pathology through proper imaging techniques
• Follows fall precautions, isolation standards and universal precautions 100% of the time
• Ensures studies and supplies are appropriately coded and charged
• Applies patient safety principles during all aspects of MRI procedures, including assisting and transporting patients
• Demonstrates understanding of varied circumstances, limitations and restrictions when proposing solutions
• Participates and leads continuing education in-service programs, reads professional publications, reviews procedure manuals and attends trainings
• Builds rapport and facilitates communication inside the department: network, coordinate activities, strive to become a contact person within your workgroup

Qualifications:

• Graduate of a formal diagnostic Radiology program
• Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technology ARRT- R.T.(MR-ARRT) certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
• Radiography ARRT- R.T. (R-ARRT) certification from the American Registry of Radiology Technologists
• Medical Radiologic Technologist Certification (CMRT) issued by the Texas Medical Board
• Knowledge of MRI physics and procedures
• Understanding of MRI principles that are developmentally appropriate for ages 0 – adulthood
• Ability to operate required equipment including troubleshooting when necessary of the equipment, including automated processors, copying/digitizing film equipment, R.I.S., and PACS
• Understanding of basic life support and medical terminology
• Must be courteous and supportive in dealing with patients, parents, nursing, faculty, administrative and departmental personnel so that excellent customer service and positive guest relations are achieved
• Must honor confidentiality
• Ability to independently scan patients by following the established protocols
• Demonstrates excellent verbal and written skills
• Ability to utilize basic office equipment
• Bilingual skills are preferred
