Summary:

We are searching for a Physician Assistant to work in the operating room — someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you'll work collaboratively with other members of the health care team, including the attending physicians, resident physicians, and fellow physicians to provide comprehensive patient care in accordance with the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners.

Responsibilities :

  • Provide quality patient care within the education, training and experience of the physician assistant, through delegation of the supervising physician within inpatient, outpatient and operating room settings
  • Perform inpatient/surgical emergency center consultations
  • Work independently to assess, diagnose, treat, and educate patients, consulting with physician as needed
  • Provide appropriate clinical documentation using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system for all patient encounters
  • Perform comprehensive and problem-focused histories and physical examinations for all patients
  • Participate in daily rounds for pediatric surgery patients
  • Perform minor surgical procedures independently
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, PAs, NPs, nurses and our resident team
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families and clinical team
  • Expedite surgical patients through the emergency room
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families and clinical team
  • Collaborate with pediatric surgery, urology, plastic surgery, ENT and orthopedics


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Physician Assistant Certification from the Texas Medical Board
  • Broad knowledge of medical terminology and pathology, a broad knowledge of adult learning principles and how to apply these principles to teaching
  • Ability to operate all types of equipment and perform routine and special procedures used in the daily care of the specialty-specific population, the ability to work effectively with others, and the ability to demonstrate leadership qualities
  • 2-3 years of OR experience preferred
