Summary:

We are searching for a Manager of Child Life -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this role, you will provide accountability for the clinical, operational, and human resources activities of the Child Life Department. The Child Life Manager ensures and advocates for the delivery of high quality, family centered care at the department level and throughout the organization by establishing collaborative relationships with system leadership.

Responsibilities :

  • Ensures clinical quality and optimizes support of the psychosocial and developmental needs of the patient within a family centered care environment
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills inter-and intra-departmentally and works to eliminate communication barriers. Serves as a liaison between physicians, families, nursing staff and ancillary departments
  • Coaches and develops direct reports to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care in a safe environment
  • Ensures the staffing needs of the department are adequately met.
  • Supports staff in the development of their schedules and monitors staffing needs.
  • Participates in the decision-making process for hiring new employees
  • Demonstrates fiscal accountability and effectively manages budget and resources while ensuring the department achieves patient care goals
  • Advocates for department goals and integrates in alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Communicates the IDS strategic plan to staff


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in child life or related field required
  • Master’s degree in child life or related field preferred
  • Child Life Specialist certification from the Association of Child Life Professionals required
  • Three years of experience in Child Life required
  • One year of management or leadership experience preferred
  • Ability to work collaboratively with 25-30 direct reports
