Summary:

We are searching for a Surgical Technologist to work with the Operating Room specializing in OB and GYN -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will handle instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure, and assist the physician while performing related patient care duties in an age-appropriate manner as assigned by the circulating nurse (RN).

Responsibilities :

  • Applies knowledge of the surgical procedure by anticipating the needs of the surgeon, having supplies opened or readily available in a cost-effective manner as observed by the circulating nurse/nurse manager
  • Maintains correct count of sponges, needles, and instruments according to the established policy and procedure 100% of the time as observed by the circulating nurse
  • Prepares O.R. equipment and supplies while performing patient care related duties in an age appropriate manner
  • Sets up back table, instruments, medications, and supplies according to the type of surgery and the service 100% of the time as observed by the circulating nurse/nurse manager
  • Assists in the maintenance of equipment and supplies by inspection, proper cleaning, care, and utilization according to company recommendations and the O.R. policy and procedures 100% of the time as observed by the circulating nurse
  • Communicates delays, or changes in the schedule to the charge nurse in a timely manner
  • Cares for one or more of the following age groups routinely: Neonates, Infants, Toddler, Preschool Age, School Age, Adolescent, and Adult


Qualifications:

  • Educational program completion for surgical technologists which may include operating room/surgical training completed in the army, navy, air force, marine corps, or coast guard of the United States or in the United States Public Health Service required
  • CST-SUR certification from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting required or TSC-NCCT certification from the NCCT National Center for Competency Testing required
  • 2 years’ experience as a surgical technologist and has experience in two or more surgical specialties
  • Experience in GYN and General preferred
