We are searching for a Research Technologist -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will provide timely and accurate research services, which may include infectious diseases. The Research Technologist performs technical laboratory procedures, complex testing, analyzes research data and reports results to be used for research purposes. You will provide overall data management and laboratory coordination of protocol activities, tests and procedures, data entry, and communication with research staff and investigators, and guide and supervise research assistants and coordinate research efforts in the laboratory.

Responsibilities :

  • Identifies, receives, processes, and analyzes specimens
  • Trains research assistants and new research coordinators in the practice of receiving, preparing, analyzing and shipping specimens
  • Cryopreserves peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) for immunologic assays, processes plasma, serum and other specimens for storage and shipping, participates in the Immunology Quality Assessment (IQA) of PBMCs
  • Performs all necessary controls on routine clinical assays and provides sufficient documentation of adequate quality control, accuracy, precision, quality assurance and quality improvement monitors on routine clinical assays
  • Generates identifiers for specimens to be stored and shipped
  • May participate in collaborative and fee-for-service research efforts by retrieving and processing samples from collaborators according to standard procedures
  • Maintains and orders stock of consumable supplies and performs routine cleaning and sterilizing duties as required
  • May identify and pursue opportunities for professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, conferences, and/or professional affiliations


  • Bachelor’s degree in biological or biomedical services required
  • Five years research experience required
  • A master’s degree may substitute for two years of the required experience
