Summary:

We are searching for a Senior Systems Administrator- UNIX/AIX -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will maintain and administer software and hardware on major hospital systems. Consults and assists with new and existing applications hardware architecture, operating system and layered products installation and upgrades, capacity planning, systems administration, systems programming, performance monitoring, and file systems management. This role also researches, tests, and participates in standards development and problem resolution in a technologically advanced cluster of platforms.

 

Highly prefer proven experience in the following:

  • Provide day to day System administration tasks to support over 100 servers running AIX 7.2, 7.1 and 6.1 on IBM Power9, Power8 and Power7 hardware.
  • AIX Administration -  Install, update, configure, LVM, JFS2, ODM, EtherChannel.
  • VIO Administration.
  • Performance tuning, troubleshooting, and hardening of AIX/VIO/PowerHA env.
  • Experience with HMC – virtual as well as physical – setting up LPARS, performance check.
  • Experience with SAN and Storage technologies – setup Storage on VIO and AIX LPARS, multipathing.
  • Experience with Veritas Netbackup.
  • Well verse with scripting – Korn shell, bash, and Perl.
  • Provide support on weekends and after hours.

 Knowledge of Linux – RedHat, CentOS, SuSe is a plus

Responsibilities :

  • Conducts software product evaluations and make recommendations to management.
  • Monitors and maintains system performance of enterprise servers.
  • Provides technical assistance and training in operating systems, hardware platforms, network protocols and vendor or third-party utilities to Information Services staff
  • Plans, installs and tests application software in production and test environments.
  • Receives calls forwarded from Help Desk, which cannot be resolved by Help Desk.
  • Contributes to design of disaster recovery plan of hospital and participates in execution of disaster recovery plan.
  • Configures applicable storage RAID configurations.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science preferred.
  • 7 years experience in administration of enterprise-level systems required.
  • A bachelor’s degree will substitute for 4 years of experience.
