Summary:

We are searching for a Director of Public Relations -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will lead the development of Public Relations as a critical component of the organization’s branding and marketing activities in addition to creating and implementing strategic public relations programs on a national, regional, and local level. This individual will also provide coaching and development for team members to integrate public relations efforts with strategic marketing activities, while enhancing universal understanding of the power and value of the public relations discipline.

Responsibilities :

  • Partners with key hospital executives, physician leaders and marketing colleagues to identify targets and ensures that efforts align with critical priorities
  • Works with internal staff and outside agencies to develop and execute relevant plans aimed at strengthening top tier coverage
  • Leads the development and execution of “corporate” PR initiatives, including crisis communications planning and health care policy messaging (in collaboration with government relations)
  • Partners with Service Line Marketing teams to implement public relations programs that focus on specific high priority services to influence public perception
  • Provides senior level oversight to day–to-day local PR activities, ensuring that they are strategically focused and aligned with organizational and department priorities
  • Provides senior leadership for on-going activities, including monitoring, analysis and reporting; budget stewardship; and policy oversight, as well as ongoing mentoring, coaching and development of the PR team
  • Ensures that JCAHO requirements specific to the department are fulfilled and understands the linkage between department’s requirements and those of the integrated delivery system


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, or mass communications or related field required
  • 10 years’ experience in communications, preferably with Public Relations Accreditation required
  • 5 years management experience required
  • Experience in a leading hospital/healthcare environment with additional breadth of experience, particularly in a corporate area, preferred
