Summary:

We are searching for an Assistant Director of Basic Research/Core Fac -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will plan, organize, and direct activities and programs in Research Administration involving basic research resources, including research space in the Feigin Center, Jan & Dan Duncan Neurological Research Institute (NRI) and new buildings as they are commissioned for operations. This role oversees operations of research facilities by coordinating the process for allocation of space and equipment resources, planning and design of new research facilities, operations of core resources, and development of related policies and standard operating procedures. The Assistant Director also reviews business aspects of sponsored research proposals for research to ensure appropriate facility and equipment resources are available to support the project.

Responsibilities :

  • Provides daily coordination of basic research operations and research core administrative activities
  • Provides input, plans, and directs daily operations within Research Administration related to basic research and core facilities
  • Serves on leadership committees (Steering, Construction, etc.) and user groups/focus groups
  • Promotes good communication between teams and researchers, and ensures communications flow to researchers when necessary
  • Coordinates complex projects in collaboration with Facilities Planning & Development, Facilities Operations, and Biomedical Engineering
  • Reviews, develops, and makes recommendations regarding budget, space, and equipment related to research
  • Participates actively in the development of policies, procedures and processes related to basic research operations and equipment resources


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare, research, or other scientific field required
  • 10 years’ experience in research administration or finance in a clinical, academic or research setting required
  • 3 years’ experience in a supervisory/management position required
