Summary:

We are looking for a Speech Pathologist– someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will appropriately diagnose and treat patients primarily between the ages of 0 and 21 years with speech, oral motor/swallowing, and language disorders while working toward obtaining the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).

Responsibilities :

  • Performs patient evaluations and consultations and interprets results
  • Reviews case file to obtain background information prior to evaluation/consultation
  • Administers formal and informal tests
  • Interprets results of tests and determines diagnoses
  • Develops treatment plan in conjunction with patient and/or family/caregiver
  • Implements treatment plan and monitors progress on an ongoing basis
  • Performs appropriate treatment of patients
  • Maintains records as required by law, IDS policy and administrative regulations
  • Documents evaluation procedures, results, diagnoses, and recommendations
  • Completes requirements for Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Attends and participates in continuing education programs as required to maintain licensure and promote professional growth
  • Passes National Examination in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Completes all other requirements as specified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association
  • Performs other job-related functions


Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in speech-language pathology required
  • Speech Language Pathology Intern License from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation required, or Texas Speech Language Pathology license from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation
  • Knowledge of normal and abnormal development, anatomy and physiology of the speech/swallowing mechanism, types of disorders and their etiologies, diagnostic procedures, and treatment procedures
  • Ability to diagnose and treat speech, oral motor/swallowing, language, and learning disorders under supervision
  • 1 year professional speech-language pathology experience with pediatrics preferred
